Search Literature resources for indexes of published information from journals, conference abstracts, reports and academic theses.  Critically appraise the results to exclude poorly conducted clinical trials, reports and articles and to locate relevant, valid information.

Cochrane Library: Reliable evidence on the effectiveness of healthcare interventions and treatments

NICE Evidence: Free, open access to a range of selected and authoritative health and social care evidence-based information.  NICE Medicines Information  is available within searches on NICE Evidence or search medicines separately. Login with OpenAthens to access the full range of online journals available including:

UpToDate: This resource includes updated reviews of clinical topics and topic searches can be limited to Drug Interactions. Password free within the hospital but requires OpenAthens off site. PubMed: Password Free.   Extensive index of medical, biomedical and nursing resources. Some full-text articles are free access

New England Journal of Medicine Images in Clinical Medicine offers a range of slides which are grouped by specialty.

Trip Database: search a topic and there are options to limit to images or videos

Wellcome Images: This open access resource provides a collection of biomedical images covering the history of medicine, and include  disease, surgery and general healthcare. Images are freely available to download for personal, academic teaching or study use
