Healthcare Databases new screen layout

From Monday 17th October 2016 there will be a new search screen layout for the Healthcare databases available via OpenAthens using NICE Evidence. When you login with OpenAthens and select NICE Evidence Databases & Journals (Advanced search) a different screen will appear to the familiar “boxes” you may know and love.

See below for details of the new screen.

Select a single Database eg Medline –  other green buttons will appear indicating the search is set to look at title and abstract.

The search bar at the top allows you to use Thesaurus search or you can explore more fields if you want to see the other options you can search!

hdas-new

  • Thesaurus option – check appropriate terminology
  • Databases options – swap to search a different database
  • Search options – more fields offers many more options
  • Limits –  language, age groups, date published etc

Saved searches or alerts previously created will be transferred from the old platform to the new.

As there may be technical bugs on Monday the old version of the databases will remain available until December 2016 whilst any glitches are resolved.

Help and advice will be available on the website and in the library we will be planning drop in sessions to help steer everyone through. Watch out for  news or contact the library for further advice.
